Exam Inspection on Monday

Exam Inspection
Because only a limited number of students can inspect their exam at the same time, we will use a number system.
Before the inspection
Please do the following before coming to the exam inspection:
- Register for the exam inspection in the dCMS.
- Read the sample solution in the Materials section.
- Read the instructions on this page carefully.
- If you already have questions, or if you need any special arrangements, please email Sarah beforehand.
In brief
Get a number → leave if you want → come back before 14:00→ compare numbers with the other students waiting → the student with the lowest number enters next.
How it works
- Come to the inspection room between 12:00 and 13:30, show your student ID, and get a number. Numbers are given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
- After getting your number, you are free to leave and come back later until 14:00. You do not have to wait in the building.
- Students will be admitted roughly in the order of their numbers, whenever a place in the room becomes free.
- If you are not there when your number would normally be next, other students are admitted before you. Your number remains valid, however, and you can still inspect your exam when you return once you are the student with the lowest number waiting.
Important deadlines
12:00: numbers are given out.
13:30: last possible time to get a number.
14:00: If you have a number and are back at the inspection before 14:00, you are guaranteed the opportunity to inspect your exam. You may still have to wait after 14:00. The inspection will continue until everyone who returned in time has had the opportunity to inspect their exam. (If possible, be back earlier. It would be bad for everyone if the inspection was empty for some time because all students went to Mensa at the same time.)
If you return only after 14:00, we cannot guarantee that you will still be admitted.
While waiting
Students who are currently waiting are responsible for comparing their numbers and determining the order among themselves. Please make sure that you know who currently has the lowest number. The student with the lowest number should be ready to enter as soon as the next place becomes available. This avoids repeatedly having to call out numbers.
Please also keep quiet in the building, as other people are working nearby, and pay attention to announcements by the team.
What not to do during the exam inspection
- Do not put anything on your table. In particular, phones, laptops, pens, pencils, and paper are not allowed on the table. If you are found with a pen, this will be treated as an attempt at deception.
- Do not speak to other students during the inspection.
You are very welcome to ask the tutors questions about your exam. We are happy to explain the grading, the sample solution, and individual comments or deductions. There is one exception, though: please do not ask questions such as “I only need one more point to pass. Can you find one for me?” The tutors will not search through your exam for additional points simply because you are close to passing. If you have a concrete question about the grading of a particular answer, however, you are of course welcome to ask.
Nice to know: your grade cannot get worse by attending an exam inspection. Even if we find a mistake in grading that is in your favour, we cannot remove any points (unless we give you points in other places such that your grade is not worse in the end).
