Chapter Summaries for the Exam
You can take one cheat sheet to the exam (A4, handwritten, double-sided). In addition, you will get a printout of all summaries that you submitted.
Each week, you can hand in a summary of the current chapter of up to 500 characters (including whitespace). Everything that exceeds 500 chars will be truncated. We print these summaries for you and you get it alongside your exam. The content of the printouts will be the same as your submissions, but your formatting might be changed.
In a summary for a given week, any content from the current chapter is allowed. This includes both direct copies and rephrases. No content is allowed that is obviously not related to the current chapter. For this reason, summaries have to be roughly intelligible by us (abbreviations are allowed as long as it does not inhibit intelligibility too much). Basically, we need to be able to check whether your summary is about the chapter or about something else – like a previous chapter. They must be in English or German (or a mix of both).
Summaries have to be handed in as a TXT-file via by the weekly summary deadline, which is shortly after the classroom session. Submissions will open in time on your personal status page. Summaries cannot be changed afterwards. Also, if you miss a deadline, you cannot resubmit. But don’t worry: you still have the cheat sheet on which you can write everything that you missed for the summary!
All summary deadlines can be found in the calendar.
