Dear students, The results of the final retake exam are now available on your personal status page in the dCMS, in case you participated in the retake. We can share the following observations:
In the dCMS, retake participants will also be able to see the points scored per exam exercise posed. Provided you have passed one or more final exams (and one or more midterm exams), the sum of the (respective maxima of) points scored in midterm and final exam will determine your grade according to the following table: 1,0 – points ∈ [137,25 ; 180,00] The (updated) result is also displayed on your dCMS page. You will have the chance to inspect the marking of your exam. This exam inspection will take place on Wednesday, April 12, from 13:15 to 14:45 in SR 107, E1 3. You do not need to register for this inspection. You must bring your student id to the inspection. You will not be allowed to take pictures or notes during the inspection, and there will be no time for interactions with the team that aim at sharpening your problem-solving capabilities. today, Prof. Günter Hotz, the founding father of Saarland Computer Science, will be presented with an Honorary Citizenship by his home town, St. Ingbert. The ceremony will take place this afternoon: Friday, Feb. 3, 17:00 h in (our lecture hall) Günter Hotz Hörsaal (named after him) on Campus Günter Hotz has established computer science at Saarland University, and he was a founding member and the first president of the German Computer Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik). He was also instrumental in expanding computer science and attracting some of the strong research institutes (MPI-I, DFKI, Dagstuhl) to Saarland. This may well be one of the last public appearances by G. Hotz, and the laudatio by Prof. W. In the dCMS, you will also be able to see the points you scored per exam exercise. In some rare cases, we prematurely terminated the marking in case it was obvious that no more than 35 points were reachable. This might apply to you if the point score displayed is less than 21. In this case, the score shown might be an underapproximation of the points scored, and you can compute an overapproximation by adding the maximal points achievable for the exercises marked “n.p.” on your personal status page in the dCMS. You will have the chance to inspect the marking of your exam. This exam inspection will take place on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 8 am to 11 am. We will announce further details soon. Further, note that the midterm retake will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023. It is a chance for you to see how exams are conducted at university, under conditions that are as realistic as possible. It does not contribute to the final grade or eligibility of taking exams. The mock exam is entirely created by tutors. Therefore, its content is neither relevant nor irrelevant for the real exam. The mock exam is scheduled for Saturday, December 10. It is going to take place at 9:00 am in the Audimax lecture hall (building B4 1, room 0.01). You will have to register for the mock exam on your personal status page in the dCMS by December 7, 23:59. After the registration phase is over, we will assign you a seat. You will then be able to see your seat assignment on your personal status page in the dCMS. If you want to participate, please be on time and bring your student ID on Saturday. No auxiliary materials (calculator, cheat sheets, …) are allowed. The mock exam will take around 90 minutes. Afterwards, we will present partial solutions for some of the exercises. There is yet another announcement to make: On Thursday before the exam (December 15), there will be an additional XXL Office Hour from 12 pm to 5:30 pm in HS003 in E1 3.
