This is to inform you that the grades resulting from the final retake have by now been entered into LSF/FlexNow2. Prior to this, all open issues that surfaced during exam inspection have been resolved; the results of this are reflected on your personal status page.

Dear students,

The results of the final retake exam are now available on your personal status page in the dCMS, in case you participated in the retake.

We can share the following observations:

• We had 113 participants in total. 58 of them made the cut which was again set to 42 points.
• For the majority, namely retakers who had originally failed the final exam (88 participants), their score has improved by about 17 points on average.
• In total, 47 more students now managed to pass the exam, and thus to pass the course.
• 18 participants had previously passed the final exam. Their point score is on average 6 points below the respective original score.
• The largest jump upwards was by 48 points.

In the dCMS, retake participants will also be able to see the points scored per exam exercise posed.

Provided you have passed one or more final exams (and one or more midterm exams), the sum of the (respective maxima of) points scored in midterm and final exam will determine your grade according to the following table:

You will have the chance to inspect the marking of your exam. This exam inspection will take place on Wednesday, April 12, from 13:15 to 14:45 in SR 107, E1 3. You do not need to register for this inspection. You must bring your student id to the inspection. You will not be allowed to take pictures or notes during the inspection, and there will be no time for interactions with the team that aim at sharpening your problem-solving capabilities. Your fellow students will appreciate non-excessive inspections.

On your personal status page, you will now find the lecture hall and seat assigned to you. If we did not assign you a seat and you think this is an error, please notify us as soon as possible.
Please arrive at your assigned lecture hall at 8:50 am at the latest, so that you have enough time to find your seat.

The exam will take around 90 minutes.
You will need your national ID card or passport and your student ID card, as well as writing utensils (indelible pen, neither red nor green). You will not need your own paper. No other auxiliary material will be allowed.
The exam language will be English. We will provide a German translation for each exercise as additional help for you; however, note that this translation will be on a best-effort basis.

Dear students,

On Friday, March 17, you will have the opportunity to inspect your final exam. The inspection takes place between 8 am and 11 am in SR 107, E1 3.
You do not need to register for this inspection. However, note that we expect higher individual waiting times from 10 am onwards. Your fellow students will appreciate non-excessive inspections.

On Friday, you must bring your student id to the inspection. You will not be allowed to take pictures or notes during the inspection, and there will be no time for interactions with the team that aim at sharpening your problem-solving capabilities.

Dear students,

As announced earlier, a retake tutorial will be offered. It is meant to support the preparation for the retake exam for those who need to participate there. This tutorial will take place in full-time between March 20 and March 31. The retake tutorial is made possible due to financial support from the FdSI.

If you intend to participate in the retake tutorial, please register in the respective dCMS course until March 15, 23:59.
You will receive further organisational information via this course.

Furthermore, note that you can already register in the LSF for the retake of the final exam.

Dear students,

The results of the final exam are now available on your personal status page in the dCMS, and you will also be able to see the total points and the points you scored per exam exercise.

There have been 177 participants. With at least 42 points, the final exam is passed. This has been achieved by 71 participants. The highest score obtained is 88.5 out of 90.

In case you have passed the exam, the following information gives you an indication of your relative performance. For that population, …

• the best 10% have a point score of 67 or above,
• the next 25% are at 50 points or above,
• the next 30% are at 45 points or above,
• the next 25% are at 42 points or above,
• the last 10% are at 42 points.

Provided you have passed the final exam (and at least one of the midterm exams), the (maximum of the) sum(s) of your scores on both exams will result in your grade according to the following table:

We have published the results of Minitest L. Please find your point score on your personal status page.
You will have the possibility to rapidly inspect your Minitest tomorrow (February 3) between 12 pm and 1 pm in lecture hall 003, E1 3.

Furthermore, we will offer the option to inspect all your Minitests (including Minitest M). This will happen on upcoming Thursday, February 9, in lecture hall 003, E1 3, from 8 am to 10 am. If needed, we will give those students priority whose Minitest point scores are below the threshold of 60 points.

Finally, please remember to verify your registration status for the final exam on your personal status page and to take action if the displayed status is not as you would expect.

We, the tutors, will be offering some help regarding the exam preparation. Concretely, we will offer four additional tutorials, and we will provide an exam preparation sheet. Please note that this does not at all replace your individual preparation, and we do not guarantee completeness (i.e. we do not guarantee to cover all topics that will be relevant for the exam).

The plan for the additional tutorials is as follows:

This news contains important information regarding the registration for the final exam. Please make sure to read the part below carefully.

The final exam will take place on February 11, 2023. You must register for this exam if you want to participate. The registration modalities differ from those of the midterm exams. In addition, they also differ across study programs:

• If your study program uses HISPOS/LSF, the registration takes place there. Registration and deregistration is possible until February 4, 23:59. Please note that you will need TANs to register there. We import registrations from HISPOS/LSF to the dCMS on a regular basis. You can check your current registration status on your personal status page in the Registrations section. Please note that it may take some time until your registration is displayed there.
• If you study Wirtschaftsinformatik, we will import the registration you should have already done from ViPa/FlexNow2. Your registration status is displayed on your personal status page in the Registrations section. Please verify its correctness. If your registration has not been transferred, contact us immediately but no later than February 4, 23:59.
• If your study program uses neither HISPOS/LSF nor ViPa/FlexNow2, we do not have any information about your registration deadlines. You must take care of this yourself. Additionally, you have to register separately in the dCMS on your personal status page. Registration and deregistration is possible until February 4, 23:59.

As previously announced, you will have the opportunity to inspect your Minitest on Monday, January 23, between 8 am and 9 am in room 407, E1 1.

Dear students,

As announced in the last news, you will have the opportunity to inspect your midterm retake exam on Monday, January 23, from 8 to 11 am in building E1 1, room 407.
We again ask you (if interested) to register on your personal status page for a specific time slot for load-balancing purposes. You may arrive anytime during your selected time slot to inspect your exam. Note, however, that you are expected to have finished your inspection at the end of the time slot selected. Your fellow students will appreciate non-excessive inspections. The deadline for registration is Sunday, 23:59, and registration is a mandatory requirement for inspecting your exam.

On Monday, you must bring your student id to the inspection. You will not be allowed to take pictures or notes during the inspection, and there will be no time for interactions with the team that aim at sharpening your problem-solving capabilities.

Note that if you register for a slot between 8 am and 9 am, you may also inspect Minitest J.

Dear students,

The results of the midterm retake exam are now available on your personal status page in the dCMS, in case you participated in the retake.

We can share the following observations:

• We had 243 participants in total. 100 of them made the cut which was again set to 40 points.
• For the majority, namely retakers who had originally failed the midterm (142 participants), their score has improved by about 4 points on average.
• In total, 32 more students now managed to pass the exam, and thus can proceed to the final exams (if Minitest scores allow).
• About one third of the participants (86) had previously passed the midterm. Their point score is on average 4 points below the respective original score.
• The largest jump upwards was by 22 points.

In the dCMS, retake participants will also be able to see the points scored per exam exercise posed. The sum thereof might be lower than the overall point score reported, due to the presence of a linear adjustment (by 4.5 points).

You will have the chance to inspect the marking of your exam. This exam inspection will take place on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 8 am to 11 am. We will announce further details soon.

Dear students,

The results of the midterm exam are now available on your personal status page in the dCMS. There have been 387 participants. With at least 40 points, the midterm exam is passed. This has been achieved by 170 participants. The highest score obtained is 88 out of 90.

In case you have passed the exam, the following information gives you an indication of your relative performance. For the population that has passed the exam, …

• the best 10% have a point score of 68 or above,
• the next 25% are at 54 points or above,
• the next 30% are at 46 points or above,
• the next 25% are above 40 points,
• the last 10% are at 40 points.

In the dCMS, you will also be able to see the points you scored per exam exercise.

In some rare cases, we prematurely terminated the marking in case it was obvious that no more than 35 points were reachable. This might apply to you if the point score displayed is less than 21. In this case, the score shown might be an underapproximation of the points scored, and you can compute an overapproximation by adding the maximal points achievable for the exercises marked “n.p.” on your personal status page in the dCMS.

You will have the chance to inspect the marking of your exam. This exam inspection will take place on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 8 am to 11 am. We will announce further details soon.

Further, note that the midterm retake will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023. In case you want to participate in the retake, you must register for it on your personal status page before January 7, 23:59.

As already announced, this week and in the first week of January, all teaching activities will be conducted online. For our various offers, this means the following:

Lectures

The lectures of units H and I will be held via Zoom. You can find the link to the meeting on the materials page in dCMS.

Tutorials

The tutorials G and H will be held via Discord. You can access the server via the invitation link on the materials page. Please choose a nickname that enables your tutor to identify you, e. g. your first name.
There are dedicated channels for each tutor. Please join the respective main channel of your tutor at the beginning of your tutorial.

Office Hours

We will offer online Office Hours on December 19 (today!) and 20 as well as on January 3 and 6. They will also take place on our Discord server, which you can access via the invitation link on the materials page.

More details can be found in the dCMS calendar. Note that you can use our Forum anytime to ask questions. However, please expect longer delays between Christmas and New Year.

Dear students,

The midterm exam will take place on Saturday, December 17. This is the final reminder that you have to register for this exam on your personal status page until today, December 9, 23:59.
The registration only takes place in dCMS. An exam registration in LSF or VIPA/FlexNow is neither sufficient nor necessary!

Please note that you will need to pass the midterm exam (or the midterm retake on January 14) to get admitted to the final exam.

The midterm exam is expected to start at 9 am. We will announce further details in due time.

Dear students,

We, the team of tutors, will organise a mock midterm exam (“Probeklausur”). The mock exam is completely voluntary. It is a chance for you to see how exams are conducted at university, under conditions that are as realistic as possible. It does not contribute to the final grade or eligibility of taking exams. The mock exam is entirely created by tutors. Therefore, its content is neither relevant nor irrelevant for the real exam.

The mock exam is scheduled for Saturday, December 10. It is going to take place at 9:00 am in the Audimax lecture hall (building B4 1, room 0.01). You will have to register for the mock exam on your personal status page in the dCMS by December 7, 23:59. After the registration phase is over, we will assign you a seat. You will then be able to see your seat assignment on your personal status page in the dCMS. If you want to participate, please be on time and bring your student ID on Saturday. No auxiliary materials (calculator, cheat sheets, …) are allowed.

The mock exam will take around 90 minutes. Afterwards, we will present partial solutions for some of the exercises.

There is yet another announcement to make: On Thursday before the exam (December 15), there will be an additional XXL Office Hour from 12 pm to 5:30 pm in HS003 in E1 3. There you can ask all questions you might have before the midterm.
On Friday (December 16), there will be the same number of tutors like every other week. So preferably you should come on Thursday, because we cannot guarantee that your questions can get answered on Friday.

This week, the rapid inspection for Minitest D is split into two dates. The second inspection slot is scheduled for Monday, December 5, starting at 8 am in lecture hall 003, E1 3, and will need to end at 9 am sharp.
